I Used To Be Creative, Where Did It Go?

You haven't missed your chance to live a creative life.

George Land's creativity research began with 1,600 children. An astonishing 98% of five-year-olds scored in the highly creative category. By age ten, that number had dropped to 30%, and by fifteen, just 12%.

When the test was later given to approximately 280,000 adults, only 2% of the average age of 31 reportedly scored in that highly creative category. At that point, they're about 98% not creative. It totally flips in that space of time.

It's no wonder your creativity feels stalled or non-existent. Without realizing it, you only have about 2% creativity left unless you've been actively pursuing creative training. You need a jumpstart to rediscover what creativity looks like for you today.

What Happened To All That Creativity?

Land's conclusion was that noncreative behavior is learned. And that raises an exciting possibility (which research supports): if non-creativity is learned, then creativity can be taught!

I wondered why, when I made things, I didn't feel more creative or know how to come up with ideas. My personal journey to answer that question of how to be creative led to my book, Jumpstart Your Creative Engine with The 8 Creative Power Habits, along with the Creative Roadtrip Map. At Shannon’s Studio, we put The 8 Creative Power Habits (8CPH) into practice so you don't have to wonder how to be creative anymore.

What Is the Creative Roadtrip Map?

The Creative Roadtrip Map is a printable guide that turns your creative life into a journey you can actually see. Instead of vague goals or overwhelming to-do lists, you get a visual map with meaningful Landmark opportunities to progress in specific areas. It’s part planner, part reflection tool, and part permission slip to dream again.

What Do I Do At Shannon’s Studio?

At Shannon’s Studio, I help women, mothers, and multi-passionate creatives reclaim their artistic voice through practical, heartfelt tools. From the Roadtrip map and 8 CPH Checkpoints to resources and retreats, my work is about sparking creativity for you and making it feel doable in real life, not just on a perfect day. I blend art, coaching, and lived experience to help you see that your story, your ideas, and your gifts are worth putting on the map. A simple visual map turns vague creative wishes into tangible next steps.
